Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader Manish Sisodia on Thursday asserted that the party’s candidate from the Ambala constituency would not be changed. The party has fielded Panchkula’s Surinder Pal Singh from the seat. On Wednesday, a group of party workers had protested Singh’s candidature terming him an outsider as he belongs to Hisar.

Workers burnt AAP caps and party literature at party’s office here, following which a complaint was lodged for their unruly behaviour at the Sadar Bazar police station.

Talking to media persons, Sisodia claimed that the candidate had been selected in a transparent manner by party’s search and political affairs committee after scrutinising 55 applications.

Disciplinary action would be taken against those who had tarnished the party’s image, he added. Sisodia further said that the party was fighting elections to fight corruption, land mafia, and ‘family-oriented parties’, adding that AAP did not give tickets to two members of the same family.

State president Ashawant Gupta said the party head office had been set up at Sonipat and 632 applications were received for 10 Haryana seats.

On being pointed that the office had been locked and the board was removed, Gupta said the matter would be resolved and the office would reopen on Thursday.
