Yogendra Yadav kickstarts AAP campaign in Gurgaon

With less than a month to go for the polling in Haryana, Aam Aadmi Party senior leader Yogendra Yadav on Tuesday set out on a whirlwind tour of the nine Assembly segments falling under the Gurgaon Parliamentary constituency with an aim to reach out to the electorate, both urban and rural.

 

During the nine-day mass contact programme, Mr. Yadav would be holding nukkad sabhas and road shows. The main objective of the programme is to talk to the masses about their problems and expectations and provide them an opportunity to know the candidate, said Dr. Sanjay Kumar, who is media in-charge of Mr. Yadav.

 

Beginning with Rewari, Mr. Yadav would visit Ferozepur Jhirka, Nuh, Punhana, Sohna, Gurgaon, Badshahpur, Pataudi before the tour culminates at Bawal on March 19. Mr. Yadav is expected to hold a road show in Gurgaon on March 16.

 

 

On Monday, Mr. Yadav walked through the labyrinthine streets in the retail and wholesale market of Sadar Bazar and upmarket Cyber Hub, occasionally shaking hands with the people, seeking support for his party and answering impromptu questions. People mostly complained about the poor infrastructure, electricity shortage, abysmal condition of the health and the education sector, corruption and bad governance. The shopkeepers highlighted the issue of complex tax structure imposed by the present regime. Mr. Yadav gave them a patient hearing and noted some of the complaints with a promise to address them, if voted to power.

On being asked about his party’s decision to quit power in Delhi, Mr. Yadav explained that the AAP was pushed to the corner as both the Congress and the BJP ganged up to oppose the Jan Lokpal Bill and the party did not have a full mandate to work freely and fulfil all its promises. Fielding a question on why the AAP was targeting BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Mr. Yadav said: “It is necessary to bring out the truth about the claims being made by the BJP and Narendra Modi.” The corrupt governance of Congress is evident to all, but very few know about the facts of the Gujarat model being propagated as an ideal.”
