Kejri does a Gandhigiri; Greets Attackers with Flowers

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday visited the houses of two of his attackers and greeted them with flowers as both men pleaded guilty.

He also met Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi and asked him to find the mastermind behind these attacks.

Kejriwal along with party leaders Manish Sisodia and Dilip Pandey went to the house of auto rickshaw driver Lali, 38, in Aman Vihar area of Outer Delhi. Lali had slapped Kejriwal during a road show in northwest Delhi on Tuesday. The former Delhi CM hugged him and gave him a bouquet.

According to Lali, he was upset with Kejriwal as he failed to fulfil promises made to auto rickshaw drivers. “I have tried to meet him several times, even during his ‘janta darbar’, but could not meet him and then he stepped down as chief minister. I was very upset. I have committed a mistake … he is my God,” Lali said after Kejriwal’s visit.

Kejriwal’s next stop was Abul Fazal Enclave in Jamia Nagar where he met 19-year-old Abdul Basit, who had punched him during a road show in south Delhi last week. Basit also apologised saying “I lost my way and I regret what I did”.

Both men denied being paid for their acts and said they have been supporters of the AAP and were disappointed with kejriwal’s resignation.

Reiterating that he doesn’t need any security, he met Police Commissioner B S Bassi and asked him to track down the mastermind behind the recent attacks. “I asked the Police Commissioner what their probe revealed so far. He said they recorded statements of the attackers. I told them not to harass them and track the masterminds who incite such attacks for vested interests,” he said.
